TV’s version of that cunt o’Brien on the radio. Ask a question and then answer it yourself before they get a chance. And god forbid anyone who doesn’t agree with your views

I laugh at some of the things he does but he is a massive cunt of the highest order.

A bully, shouty, girly hysteria for no reason nornally and above all a total liar who tries to smooth over his bottom of the swamp earlier life.

This varies among many of my mates, depending on who he's actually slating...

When he was tearing into Left-Wing politicians they thought he was fucking great, now the boot's on the other foot and it's Right-Wing politicians and policies that are in the firing line, some, with short memories, are like fucking wet lettuces saying how he's not fair, and a bit of a cunt. Boo fucking hoo!

Me? I think he's a twat full stop, regardless who he's ranting at, and full of his ego-maniacal sense of self importance...

Surf.
Government is responsible for determining what is included in the national pandemic stockpile. PHE - a government agency, as you know - maintains that stockpile.
In short, the buck stops with the Government of the day.

Re: Piers Morgan: P***k or good bloke?
Well it depends on the funding?

If Civil Servants had adequate funding to carry on B.A.U & spend on resilience for situations like this but failed to do so, then they could be blamed.

If they were not adequately funded to do so, then they should not be.

Over the last few years I have heard and read plenty from those within the NHS who have repeatedly stated that they are underfunded and overstretched. Also heard plenty of politicians advise the opposite.

I am inclined to believe more in the former.

'Perhaps if they were better funded in the first place, they would have been.'

That's partisan nonsense.

The NHS were given a budget and chose to allocate that budget to areas other than PPE. If we use your logic, no civil servant could ever be held responsible for any bad decision, ever.

WHU(Exeter) 12:15 Wed Apr 29
Re: Piers Morgan: P***k or good bloke?
Wiltell that's true but maybe there is more to it than simply who has the say in who and when purchases the PPE?

Does the PPE have life-use expiry dates?...even if it doesn't, it's likely that with that PPE there would be changes in specs over the years, rendering previous purchases unsuitable.

If some services are stretched to the maximum in the first place dealing with 'the norm', then not having adequate PPE for a pandemic like this one can't simply be explained by "well you should have prepared for this years ago"

Perhaps if they were better funded in the first place, they would have been.

Willy

Well the Government seems to be happy to bear the responsibility.

"The goal I’ve set is that everyone should get the personal protective equipment (PPE) they need." - Matt Hancock.

Yes mate but Piers Morgan spends his mornings moaning not about NHS Purchasing but the government over PPE & testing as if it's their fault. He sees himself as a future PM imo.

A few years ago the NHS ran a test programme to see how they would cope with a pandemic and awarded themselves a satisfactory rating.

Expecting the govt to pick up the pieces and take the blame is pointing the finger in the wrong direction which most journalists seem to be doing.

I watched an interview with a lady that was head of Care Homes Association - 85% private and 15% Council run remember. Not once did the interviewers ask why care homes are blaming the govt (which the lady was) when care homes source their own PPE products...

Re: Piers Morgan: P***k or good bloke?
Willtell, governments can do whatever they want within the law. The world is full of governments sourcing PPE for what is a once in a lifetime pandemic.

The government of Taiwan, for example, joined with private manufacturers in Taiwan to produce 10 million masks a day by the 1st of March. Their aim now is to produce 20 million a day. They’re able to give millions away to other countries they’ve got so many.

Willtell 11:32 Wed Apr 29
Re: Piers Morgan: P***k or good bloke?
That's fine but governments don't order PPE equipment.

The NHS has a procurement division that spends around £70bn pa,

About 85% of care homes are privately run. The other 15% are council run. God knows how much they spend on PPE but not a lot it seems...

Stevethehammer 10:30 Wed Apr 29
Re: Piers Morgan: P***k or good bloke?
People are dying out there and one of the reasons for it is a lack of PPE and testing. Dress it up as much as you want but its the truth. These politicians coming out and saying how its important to get PPE etc and then not having the basic knowledge of numbers makes my blood boil.
It seems like they have all been quick to praise the NHS but when held accountable for their vote on whether nurses deserved a payrise over the 1% inflation suddenly they forget how to form a sentence and sound like wayne rooney, errmmmm ermmmm
Morgan like him or loathe him is the only one holding these people to account and rightly so, we can all skip around the issue and pick up the pieces after but that won't save lives and Morgan is giving to them. Fair fucking play in my opinion.

Atkins and the Tory media team should have been well aware of questions she'd get asked after Panorama. I commented on Operation Cygnus on this website weeks ago. How can a Minister not know what it was. I have never met Morgan but I have met Atkins a couple of times in previous job. She's intelligent, funny and yes I would. But her preparation was dire and Morgan rightly slaughtered her.
